Illustrated Talk: History of Graylingwell Hospital
Arrive by 1pm at Graylingwell Chapel for an illustrated talk by Katherine Slay about the fascinating history of Graylingwell Hospital, which was originally known as the West Sussex Lunatic Asylum. Katherine is well acquainted with the hospital, having catalogued its archives when she was working at West Sussex Record Office. The talk focuses on what life was like for patients and staff, particularly during the period 1897-1960. After the talk you can enjoy a hot drink and a tasty treat from The Chapel Cafe and ask Katherine any further questions. There will be time to explore the displays of items and photographs in the Chapel which relate to the hospital’s history.
The ticket price includes a £1 donation to Stonepillow, a Chichester-based charity which provides supported accommodation for people on their journey out of homelessness.
